AMERICAN IDOL, the iconic series that revolutionized the television landscape by pioneering the music competition genre, will return to airwaves on SUNDAY, MARCH 11 at 8|7c, at its new home on ABC.
The nationwide search for the next superstar kicked off in August 2017, as the Idol Bus traveled from Portland, Oregon, to Orlando, Florida, in its pursuit for talent, covering 23 cities across the country. Auditioning was made easier than ever as hopefuls also had the opportunity to submit audition videos online, as well as via select social media platforms using an official tag, #TheNextIdol, cultivating over 300,000 posts. Also, for the first time in “American Idol” history, hopefuls had the opportunity to audition through a livestream platform.
Helping to determine who America will ultimately vote for to become the next singing sensation, are music industry forces and superstar judges, Luke Bryan, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie. Emmy® Award-winning host and producer Ryan Seacrest will return as host of the beloved series.

  • New song of maddies

  • OMG I fell in love with this girl 😍

  • Maddie: **Hits teeth on microphone.** Luke: "That's why I signed up for this, Maddie."

  • She is one of the worst ever American Idol winners. I don’t understand why people One of the worst AI winners ever. She is a decent singer but totally unremarkable.

  • Anyone for 2019??? I love that song.

  • She seems so simple but so amazing at the same time. What a unique young lady

  • m woodard was the best singer and everyone knew it...judges only should vote

    • You and 3 other people apparently thought that. It is not just a singing competition.

  • 1:17 lmao katy perry pretending she knows the words

  • Wow!! Talk about a make over! She looks so different from her days with Envoi. Still a great voice!!

  • LOL That was so blatantly unfair of Katy. I don't think past judges have ever been THAT transparent omg.

  • One of my fave songs! Beautifully sang! CONGRATS MADDIE!

  • She is definitely the best singer ever I wish I could meet her one day😁😁it would be so cool glad you won. I voted her on all of my electronics including my parents and siblings electronics 🤣

  • She was totally an underdog

  • can you please sing crystal ball u r so special

  • I have to say, I wish Maddie would’ve sang something other than this song in the finale. This is good, however - Chloe Kohanski kinda put this song to rest lol. Maddie seemed to pick ballads on the show that didn’t have any strong moments to them. I seen a video of her singing “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road” by Elton John, (which isn’t the easiest song to sing) and she did an amazing job with it. She really showcased her voice a lot. Smooth falsettos, amazing control, and no extreme over belting.

    • Cole W. I think Cole’s version had more emotion & soul. But Maddie is still amazing either way.

    • I like Maddie's more than Chloe's

  • Maddie Poppe brings soulful songs to life for the 21st century. Her sense of style is unique and her vocals are a folksy and sweet medley. The "time makes you bolder" part is lovely here, as well as the last "reflection" bit.

  • She emotiion...she didn't deliver...what's so great about her singing...NOTHING...

    • lol butthurt gabby fan spotted 🤣

  • Your going to be the next Stevie Nicks🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟❤️🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

  • he's good

  • Michale J woodard and her..I cant choose

  • I love this song and I love this cover!

  • Almost thought it was Stevie herself singing. This young lady has a whole lot of blessings heading her way.

  • she cam eto mood media to do a show case, i have to say i am an instant fan, she sooo incredible, very talented

  • Ada Vox should have won 😤

  • Maddie sing another great song!!!

  • The journey to fame traces back home

  • I love her voice

  • Maddie has a beautiful voice, but she sings it just a bit different than Stevie. Compare the last note "down" in the first line at 0:08 with the Fleetwood Mac live version at 0:27. Stevie keeps the word "down" in Dmajor (singing F-sharp, which gives a dramatic effect), but Maddie starts in Emaj and ends in Amaj. Can be done, but takes away the intense drama and turns it into a country song.

  • she looks like a doll

  • Hooray.

  • bagus

  • She’s so basic. Nothing special

    • Bryan Mendoza she has a beautiful singing voice

  • reminds me of Alela Diane

  • The great singer/songwriters of the past would be proud of you and I'm sure they're listening with a smile 🤓

  • Can I get her number?

  • What a lovely find!

  • Just releasing this is the same song Chloe kohanski song on the voice that also won

  • Maddie do you realize how powerful and wonderful your voice is? I love your version of Landslide, it's soo soothing and you sang it with your heart. You will definetely move up in music industry. Keep being you and stay humble 😊😍🤔

  • Wonderful! Shes so raw and genuine! dont know who should have won but this is my favorite performance by her!

  • Let's face it. This performance won her Idol.

  • Best song she did

  • Such a boring and awful her vocals is .... Michael J was much much better then her ...

  • Are people going tone deaf? yuck

  • She totally sucks at this song, no feeling or emotions, doesn't even come close to Chloe Kohanski's performance.

    • I've listened to Chloe's wannabe lounge acts. She will be another cast off. Maddie smokes her and throws her in the ash can. Chloe is a wannabe Stevie Nicks-Fleetwod singer, but she can't sing away from that genre.

  • there's no way she sings better than alyssa raghu

  • Maddie, you make Stevie Nicks proud, I'm sure... :) Beautiful :)

  • WOW WOW&Wow!

  • Maddie’s “Landslide” made Gabby Barrett to “Stop Believin’” and Caleb to “Close’ his ‘Eyes” ultimately bringing them down

  • You hear her style of voice a lot now. Grace Vanderwaal was the OG to this sound

  • wasnt near as good as original but it had that new age smell to it that made it even better

  • This song won it for her!

  • i rarely fully enjoy fleetwood mac covers simply bc i think nothing can ever come close to the original. the way she sang this song was so effortlessly perfect and it made me feel like how stevie nicks makes me feel. they are so different yet so similar in the way they make you feel nostalgic and at home. simply amazing

    • I understand that vibe. There are others from "TheVoice" that don't believe so. They have a wannabe SN that they love. MP sang her song and made it beautiful

  • When was this, this year? How come, I missed, it,..? Probably, my stupid foot surgery,..!

  • although i am still a bit salty Catie Turner was eliminated too early on in the competition, i can genuinely say that from david archuleta losing to cook, lambert to allen, i am finally happy with the outcome! Maddie deserved it.

    • IR Confused ok

    • Sorry all, Sorry Maddie, just an AWESOME PERFORMANCE!!!!!!!

    • hami I had a vicious reply to send, but I'm not going to feed your hate. I disagreed with your opinion, I can't believe where you sent the conversation towards my mother having fellatio towards you . FUCK OFF

    • I take my words back

    • Hey lets forget what we said

  • Has anyone seen my weave?

  • BS that Katie Perry said that

  • Sing suspicious minds by Elvis Presley in your own style, you are amazing!!!!!

  • Maddie has good song choices and a very good voice but Gabby doesn't look all stiff like a deer caught in the headlights. Maddie needs to loosen up a bit and do a little more swaying.

  • Just beautiful

  • Be very carefull sweetheart Hollywood will eat you up and spit you out as something you will never want to be.

  • i’m not crying, you’re crying

  • I heard this song in rehab. We weren't allowed to have our cell phones and we went a full week without any music. The music therapist was a gorgeous young lady who got us all together and we followed her lead in this song. I had never even liked this song until then. Now every time I hear it. It makes me happy.

  • 2:02 lol her reaction made me think she hit her teeth on the mic or something

  • I know Maddie won Idol but I am still wondering how? Compare her singing Landslide to Chloe Kohanski that won the Voice doing the same song and there is no comparison! Chloe is totally engulfed in the song and Madie can hardly get a feeling it seems. Chloe like Gabby can work the stage like a pro while Maddie can't get the mic out of the holder! Maybe I saw something different than other people but in my opinion Maddie was not the best singer or performer on Idol.

    • T Kopp, Chloe and Maddie are two completely different artist. However, here's my take on this whole thing. Yes, Caleb and Gabby are immensely talented singers however; they weren't really unique. With as much talent as they had, they didn't really stand out when being compared to current country stars. You can find voices like theirs anywhere. Maddie on the other hand was different. She wasn’t the typical singer belting out pop tunes. Instead, she was a quiet vocal storyteller with a penchant for eccentric song choices and an uncommon style. But maybe her throwback style is what caught people’s attention. She was the most unique artist in the competition for today that would create something interesting for today’s music scene. There might only be a few people that can pull off what Maddie could, whereas there are dozens of artists that can pull off and sound like Gabby and Caleb. If she was on the radio you would know that was Maddie Poppe in a second. She may have not been the best singer, but her song choices helped her a lot. In my opinion, Maddie was a smart contestant and played the American idol game very well. You could be one the best singers in the competition, but if your song choices weren’t for YOU, that could easily get you sent home. Which is one of the reasons Gabby didn’t make it. She picked the wrong song choices during the finale. Just a month 1/2 ago, her performances had more dislikes than likes on youtube. Little Red Wagon was absolutely the wrong song choice for Gabby, she should’ve went with The Climb. Also, if she wanted to win she should’ve stuck with country instead of doing a rock song. Many felt like Gabby wasn’t genuine and tried to copy other people’s style, which is what also lost her the win. Maddie on the other hand, presented herself in every song and never strayed away from who she was as an ARTIST. Even lionel richie said the music industry aren’t for SINGERS, they’re for STYLISTS. Having that “identity factor” along with her humble personality is what raised Maddie to the top. Being an American idol isn’t about the best person running around on stage.

    • T Kopp No comparison Chloe killed it and won the Voice. Maddie sounds more like Dixie Chicks version than Stevie Nick's which Chloe did.

  • DC idjsbql

  • djixjpons. zjnsbszp BBC zjnsbszp the same time as iuuuiojftji I was a great way. do,d.. ddhdbfdhi the best time to

  • I am very glad that you won the competition. You deserved it. Love from Turkey.🙋

  • OMG I just found this gorgeous young lady on US-tv. Maddie is the girl next door with truck loads of talent. I get lost in her voice, could listen to her for ever. Can't wait for her to be as successful as Adele.

  • I didn’t think I would love to hear this from someone other than Chloe’s (the voice winner). And man oh man, I am in love with this version too. How lucky are we to have 2 original winners?

  • This show should’ve just ended because they had people on here who couldn’t even sing and once again they have non deserving singers win

  • All great in their own ways, but Maddie was the best- congrats Maddie!!!

  • Her face really match the music Genre 👍😊

    • Marce Velazquez By far. Chloe followed the original Stevie Nick's version which I loved. Maddie followed Dixie Chicks version which I hated.

  • I love Chloe Kohanski from The Voice Landslide version than Maddie. Chloe sang it with emotion.

  • Best winner since PP. Very original and authentic performer.

  • Most boring and unoriginal Idol winner so far. No personality, and nothing unique in her voice. Million in a million.

  • Way better than the original...just sayin. ;)

    • Tim Leffel Maybe that is what I don't like. The autotune that takes out the individuality of the artist.

    • richard morabtio I totally disagree. I meant better than Stevie’s version. Stevie was a great storyteller with her singing but not close to this girl vocally. If you really listen to it Stevie is all over the place and pitchy at times. A great song that wasn’t really sung that great.

    • Tim Leffel The original was Stevie Nick's and not Dixie Chicks which this sounded like. Stevie Nick's is much better than both. Only Chloe Kohanskis version is equal to Stevies.

  • Sometimes her voice reminds me of Joni Mitchell

  • luv her

  • iowa born iowa pride

  • I'm in my seventh decade, and remember listening to Judy Collins and Joan Baez so many years ago. Maddie is there.

  • Love Maddie!!!!

  • Absolutely incredible Maddie. So proud of you for how far you’ve come💛

  • Landslide I took my love, I took it down Climbed a mountain and I turned around And I saw my reflection in the snow covered hills 'Til the landslide brought it down Oh, mirror in the sky What is love? Can the child within my heart rise above? Can I sail through the changin' ocean tides? Can I handle the seasons of my life? Well, I've been afraid of changin' 'Cause I've built my life around you But time makes you bolder Even children get older And I'm getting older, too Well, I've been afraid of changin' 'Cause I've built my life around you But time makes you bolder Even children get older And I'm getting older, too Oh, I'm getting older, too I took my love, I took it down I climbed a mountain and I turned around And if you see my reflection in the snow covered hills Well the landslide will bring it down And if you see my reflection in the snow covered hills Well the landslide will bring it down Oh, the landslide will bring it down

  • Perfection. Maddie is so skilled with her tone...

  • Great song choice - How about a Patsy Cline song - "Crazy"

  • During the video clip of her back home in the car when they were playing The Chain I said... man I hope she sings a Fleetwood Mac song. BAM. Played a Fleetwood Mac song.

  • Her voice is like silk, can listen to it all day. It also looks like singing is as natural to her as breathing. I love the way she smiles while singing too, makes her eyes sparkle too.

    • Leland Bartlett her raw singing is infectious.

  • she is a very talented singer and songwriter. 👏

  • Iowa spawned a great singer

  • All you naysayers about Maddie's possible success, her AI single over a week later is at #21 while Idol superstar Carrie's current single "Cry Pretty" rests at #73 and both songs were sang on the Idol stage so no advantage there. I'd say there's a good chance Maddie will break the atrocious Idol success drought. Fun fact; she is only the 3rd white female to win Idol. The other two, Kelly and Carrie. Another fun fact; they are by far the most successful to come off any of these shows.

    • Maddie’s single soared to #3 on the iTunes US Overall chart, and #2 on the iTunes US Pop Charts. It also reached #4 on the Spotify US Viral chart, and has over 2 million streams-to-date across all platforms. So it did pretty well for her first single. I think Maddie’s next single will have even more success, she said it’s more of her style. She’ll definitely be one of the top selling AI’s despite what some want to believe.

  • Maddie is good dont get me wrong, but catie should have won.

    • daniel burton I was never hype lol.

    • onlyhope calm yourself, adults are having opitions here.

    • Well, she didn’t lol. Catie and Maddie were the most unique artists this year, but Catie wasn’t as consistent as Maddie.

  • Ouchhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!! Stop, Stop, Stop, please, I'll tell you anything you want to hear... OMG, somebody make her stop, please, I am begging you...

  • And this my friends, is when Maddie Poppe won it all.

    • Owen Sanger yupp! ☺️

  • I felt this was her worst performance. She certainly can't compare to Stevie Nicks' or The Dixie Chicks' cover of this song. This was very meh.

    • thought it was better than Dixie Chicks

  • Tears all over!!! This song has me balling my freakin eyes out! Her voice is absolutely mesmerizing and the stylists did a great job with her whole outfit and makeup together. This girl is just stunning in all ways, I absolutely love her!!

    • Alexis Anderson If you teared for this version which had little emotion listen to Chloe Kohanskis version who won the Voice. Which was very emotional.

  • At 2:00 does anyone else see Luke Bryan's obvious disappointment. This isn't the first time he has made this at the end of one of her performances. He did it to Catie Turner when she sang Havana

  • I was smitten with Maddie from her first performance.
