Bahhhhhhhhh, this was such a LONG process just for this tiny little closet. I know the future videos going through my other rooms is going to only get more intense as I venture on in my minimalist journey. Like I said in the video this is a PROCESS. I didn't get rid of as much stuff as I would have wanted, but I know in the future that I will. Going into my closet now makes me smile where before I would get really frustrated. I walked in just today and it took me 20 seconds to pick out an outfit, I was very intentional in putting it together and that is not what used to happen. I would just stand in there for a long time and get so worked up to the point where I wouldn't even want to leave the house sometimes. I know it wasn't solely from having too much stuff (anxiety comes into play), but it was affecting it for sure! Please leave any tips you have for everyone watching (and me too!) that you like to do when letting things go or organizing. Thanks for watching, loveeeeee you.

  • Wow. There are still so many knitted cardigans left ..... way to much for a healthy person

  • Who ever tryโ€™s to scroll all the way down the comments

  • You did a fabulous job and I am inspired to purge my closet!

  • As long as you use something there's no need to get rid of it. I don't get the benefit of getting rid of items that you can still use to just dumping it in landfills . This whole minimalism mindset isn't right

  • Good for you!

  • Awesome job! I'd just suggest that you install a shelf (or two) where the sweater rod is so that you can fold your sweaters on it, and reinstall the rod lower as it's anyway just tops. That way the knits won't stretch out as much and will last longer :)

  • i feel so good after a clear out

  • That was a good closit cull! We are each on our life's journey and no one knows your needs better than you do! Reselling what you no longer need will able you to make an extra payment, build your savings or purchase a trip. There is nothing wrong with keeping a couple dress bags and a bin in your hall closit to house the items you need to resell, that's what I do. What doesn't sell right away online can be brought into a local consignment shop or sent into a shop that will buy clothes like... www.clothesmentor.com or crossroadstrading.com. They have always accepted and paid me way more than thredup.

  • You are so pretty

  • I keep getting this message for kon marie app: 404 Page Not Found The page you requested does not exist.

  • tablesKonMari's best advice I have ever heard was Use the Storage you already have....get rid of extra dressers, cabinets, bedside tables, extra boxes, plastic tubs ect. where you keep what you actually don't even use. Needless to say that I don't even have a dresser anymore and just have smaller boxes to keep my underwear and bras. I hang up my pants since its better for me than folding them. It feels soo soo much better All the pieces i have i wear often....soo much nicer tho. I have to do laundry often but i don't seem to mind since nothing are smashed together. YOU DID A GREAT JOB GIRL!!!

  • Odd comment but what size is your bed? Full?

  • Holy poop! Iโ€™m not a minimalist by any means but damnnn you got hella clothes. I am jealous lol

  • You did good !

  • You know what? I noticed with my minimalist journey a few months ago, that it's been easier financially. I feel more cautious with what I spend my money on and unless I *need* something,do I buy anything new. Once I decluttered a hefty amount of clothes, and miscellaneous stuff,I felt... Lighter? If that makes any sense? I don't feel overwhelmed anymore, which is the more important thing. What difference did you notice? The thing about minimalism, whether you're donating/tossing/keeping items,it more has to do with what you're comfortable with, and saving your money and bringing happiness by not placing value on your things rather than the importance of family/friends etc. After a good while, you notice that your home feels calmer, your things bring more joy and you're just happier and have peace. So at the end of the day,it's absolutely worth it. You did a kick ass job, Brittany. xo

  • such an amazing dresser

  • That's the fluffiest cat ever

  • Just like my own nightmare.

  • You can tell I'm not a minimalist as I'm watching this and thinking "dang what I wouldn't give to be able to go to Iowa and shop her goodwill after she donated all those clothes" ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

  • You did a good job, baby steps.

  • Congratulations!

  • Hey, I was the one thousandth like ! XD

  • I want your cat!!!

  • Your mascara made your beautiful eyes really pop!!! What mascara do you use???

  • I love the result of organizing... But I could never be a minimalist ^^ I just love colors, so I couldn't possibly downsize to a couple t's for example because I would need one of each color minimum xD but I admire those who want to live a minimalist lifestyle! :)

  • I live in Ohio too! The weather is the most confusing thing ever.

  • Wow awesome video! Please do more!๐Ÿ˜Š

  • You have such a cute wardrobe!

  • Did you donate your sorority letters too?

    • I did! I found selling them to be difficult

  • Good job! Sweaters made of acrylic fabric or wool (knitted) should be folded. The fabric is stretched when hanged. For future shopping: 1) avoid anything polyester or acrylic, it's poor quality, damaging to the environment, the ocean and to your skin. 2) yup.

  • Is that a cat?

  • And then there's me who just has one pair of leggins Hahaha

  • Gurl you have a LOT of leggings! D:

  • I fillmed a wardrobe de clutter on my channel too! I had a meltdown and felt so overhwlemed by all the crap I have. It's literally insane how much we accumulate.

  • Where is your Hawaiian dress from that youโ€™re wearing in the video?

  • This is so random but I have the same exact dresser as you lol that's so cool

  • I'm in awe of the amount of clothing you started with. I mean good, bad....no clue. Just in awe girl!

  • Hey, I'm from Ohio too!!! Amish country area, like Holmes and tuscarawas county! Where are you from?!?!

    • Near Dayton :) I haven't been in your part but I know a lot of people go there for the weekends!

  • No way you have that dresser!!! That was the dresser i had as a little girl!!! I still have it too.

    • I got mine 18 years ago! Thatโ€™s so funny

  • You did a fantastic job! I have way more and I have to try on everything. Yes, I did the Marie Kondo way. Have both of her books and last decluttered 3 yrs ago about 35 plus bags. Now I own even more! i wished I had only a few pants, tops, t shirts, coats, vests etc. I just decluttered my large makeup palettes but all my hoards of makeup is new because I decluttered every area three years ago. Very tough this time. I hate that it owns me. I think for your first time you really did great! Bravo!๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป๐Ÿ™๐Ÿปโค๏ธโค๏ธโค๏ธ๐Ÿฆ‹ I just had to sub! Hope to be motivated by you!

  • Omg love this song and seriously watching this while I de clutter MY closet. Thank you for the motivation.

  • Where did you get your loveseat??

  • i really LOVE the robe! so cute!

  • Its amazing how much stuff and unused stuff we having hanging about. I liked your editing. Clothes were magically laying flat on the carpet from the wardrobe ๐Ÿ‘

  • First off you did fantastic purging and downsizing ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ but this was not done the konmari way at all which is decluttering by category not by area of home... gathering all clothing in home and only keeping what sparks joy not focusing on what to get rid of. The konmari method is not minimalism... but again great job youโ€™re off to a great start. Much love from a minimalist whose completed the Konmari method step by step on my whole home which was pretty easy with not much to de clutter. Side note thereโ€™s no number to minimalism.. just living more simply ๐Ÿ˜˜

    • Wish i could have your giveaways lol

  • You did well! I'm struggling getting rid of clothes as some are from two years ago when I was slimmer before u got sick! But now in better and losing weight I want to keep them so I don't have to buy new clothes but I'm unsure if that idea is just dumb or not๐Ÿ˜‚

  • Good job girl.!!! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ question? You donate the english muffin.?๐Ÿ˜‚

    • Oh yes, yes yes. It went to a very nice home. One where it will get lots of love and attention that I so clearly never gave it. :P :P :P

  • You did great! What about all the clothes in your other room that you showed in your before video? I thought you were supposed to group everything together when you Konmari?

    • Yes! When I was editing the video I realized I forgot to bring them in, ugh. Most of it is poshmark clothing and a few formal dresses that need donated, but I'm just going to show it during my storage room declutter.

  • give yourself more credit you did great!!

  • your closet is still full. But much much better. repeat this job more and you get less and less. goed job.

  • I actually think you purged too much, like it seemed like you were struggling to let go and that's not how it's supposed to feel

  • Awsome. You are an exemplary person. I get bored of the youtube communist world that I also realized that there are very false people, with bloated ego, so now I admire all those who turn the minimalism and inculcate others to want only what is necessary what makes you happy, this seems a more sincere world and that also protects the environment more. a kiss, beautiful.

    • I'm really trying to be a better version of myself for both myself and the environment. Small steps, but I'm still taking them :) Thank you!

  • I believe being a minimalist has nothing to do with numbers and about your mindset and keeping only what you will truly need and want in your life

    • Alien Intention Truly need AND want ;) Might want to reread her comment.

    • Alien Intention and clothes for a week a pair of sneakers and flip flops electricity and pots and pans to cook the food and books that I like to reread and things for my hobbies electronics because I do enjoy watching US-tv and movies and momentos from when my children were born pictures of my life do you have any other questions about what I find of value in my own personal life

    • Yes

  • You did such a great job when people are going there clothes I think they have to remember that they have to also have enough clothes until they do Landry too

    • True!! I've learned after doing this video and living with my closet for the past couple weeks that I have a few more thongs than I "need", but just the right amount of regular undies, and just the right amount of pjs and shorts. Then I've also noticed areas of excess - like my workout leggings *cough* hahaha. I have a few leggings going into my anti haul for the month though :)

  • You did an AMAZING job! For a first run through you got rid of a monster load of items! I'm in the same boat - on a minimalism journey and trying to weed through everything in my space. For a tip, one thing I noticed with your keep piles was, at least on camera, it looked as though you kept a lot of duplicates - multiples of similar styles with different colors or same style/same color are an easy downfall! I always go through and pull out my top 3 or top 5 of duplicates and reevaluate the rest. If I'm not going to wear them all within a span of 2 weeks, I get rid of them. :)Can't wait to follow the rest of your journey!

    • That is a good tip :) I definitely am a creature that buys duplicates of the things I love haha. I have many sets in my closet lol. Iโ€™ll try pulling them this week and seeing if I do or do not wear them/which colors I actually love more!

  • That dresser needs a makeover it would look cuter i think ๐Ÿ˜Š

  • I donโ€™t get why youโ€™re explaining yourself. Who cares if some people donโ€™t feel like you got rid of enough stuff or that youโ€™re not โ€œtrulyโ€ minimalistic. Thereโ€™s no wrong or right way to do it. You went through every article of clothing you have and made an honest assessment of things to get rid of based on whether or not they bring you joy. You got rid of sooo much, so why do you feel bad for keeping the things that do?

    • Thank you! I think I'm always second guessing myself and putting myself down, I need to work on it. :)

  • Good job. You're off to a great start! It doesn't have to be done in a day. I believe it's a process not an 'event'. Keep going. ๐Ÿ’š

  • You go girl thatโ€™s awesome

  • What if you put the hats on hooks above the dresser .. with the photoframe as well .. so it's all just clothes ..then maybe put the jeans and stuff from the dresser on the shelf and empty that plastic drawer with your lingerie into the nicer dresser x

    • I love that idea! I have some command hooks somewhere I know it!

  • sorry but i dont see the kon mari method here....you kept like 200 pair of underwear, comon, everyone uses like 1/4 of that, that just not declutering, you should keep favorites the best ones and the newest if possible. i did that a couple weeks ago and now i have clothes that i would wear without hesitating

    • MillieDiy not everyone. YOU. Its better to keep all the underwear you have then doing laundry every 3 days. Especially that you can't donate underwear and it would have to go to the trash. Ps. Isnt she a WOMEN? women that menstruate? Girl those panties is just a week of panties when you menstruate especially when it get very bloody

    • I know the undies seem like a lot, and it is for sure, but I go through 17-21 pairs a week and doing laundry only once a week I need a solid 20 pairs. It's mainly because I workout like a maniac and have to change multiple times during the day. I for sure can get it down some more, I mentioned that in the video that this was step 1, but I'm in no way done with the decluttering. I don't know if you watched till the end but I got rid of a TON of stuff. I'm on a journey :), not a one and done. I don't think my heart was ready for that yet.

    • not hate at all, just try to re do this now that its all clear and tidy. beacuse you may ve not decluter too much.

  • Your fluffy animal scared the crap out of me the first time it appeared on screen! Haha, I thought a bag or your rug was moving.

    • hahhaha yes, my decor definitely resembles my cat a lot :P

  • Enjoyed this video. Your eyelashes are so pretty, what kind of mascara do you use? Have a blessed weekend.

    • L'oreal butterfly sculpt blackest black- non waterproof :)

  • Love it ๐Ÿ˜

  • You did really well ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป No need to apologize - it's YOUR journey!

  • Love your cat I seen a picture of him or her on your Instagram I also have a Persian he is at the end of my videos on my US-tv channel check him out his name is Billy I named him after my US-tv channel that is call boosted Billy P/S You are very pretty

  • You got awesome style. Loved the robe(?)/wrap dress You wore during video

    • Thanks! It was a bridesmaid gift I got from my friend :)

  • Yes, yes, yes!!!!! It will only get easier from here ๐Ÿ˜„๐Ÿ˜„๐Ÿ˜„๐Ÿ˜„๐Ÿ˜„

  • where is that pink fuzzy sweater thing from? :)

    • oh my goodness i will take it hole and all hahah

    • It was from luca and grae! I was going to sell it on my poshmark but when I went to list it I realized it had a hole in it :( very cozy though

  • Girl this Ohio weather is something else lol. I moved to Westerville, Ohio from California last August and Iโ€™ve never dealt with such bipolar weather in my life. ๐Ÿ˜‚

    • Brittany Ann I love it here! โค๏ธ

    • I was just in Westerville last night! :)

  • Love this!

  • Your legs ๐Ÿ˜

  • I need to do this!!

  • Loved it! You did really well for the start of your journey :) I can't wait to see the rest of it!!

  • Donโ€™t worry I just started this process myself and my first go through went about like this. (Not too bad but I could improve) We got this!! โค๏ธโค๏ธ

    • It has definitely already helped me! I've gotten rid of a few more things just walking in and seeing everything I love and then being like "but you.... I do not". haha

  • Girl I need to do this ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿผ

    • You should!!! I am so dreading my makeup collection declutter, that's going to take ages haha

  • โค๏ธ I knew this video was coming soon. Girl you did so good and I'm darn proud of you !!!!!!!โค๏ธโค๏ธ โค๏ธ

    • IT TOOK FOREVERRRRR!! hahhaha I was filming for four hours. Glad that part is over with for the moment :P

  • Mother Nature is PMSing here in Tennesee, we feel ya lol

  • excellent work!

  • You did really well!

  • Dang girl you did really good getting rid of that much first round. You seriously ha e four times the amount of clothes!! Good luck going back through those for poshmark!

    • Got through about half so far, it's a process for sure haha

  • I do love thinking of it that I've already gotten joy out of the purchase and owning the item and now it's time to let it bring someone else joy. You did a GREAT job! The english muffin made me laugh.

    • Don't let others bring you down about the journey either. I had a lot and I've gone through for a year, now I'm in 18 months and went through again. Now I have 40 clothing items for the year. If you had said I'd go down to that 18 months ago I would have told you no way.

    • That's a great way to look at it :) hahaha yesss, I literally think I set my bag down last year on my last day of regular classes at school and forgot to pick it up again until now. So gross hahaha

  • omg that english muffin in your bag ๐Ÿ˜‚ ๐Ÿคฃ

    • Gracie Vee it's amazing the stuff we find.....everyone of us has an "English muffin" at some point during this process!

    • i don't doubt it one bit !!!!๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ

    • lolol it was grossss

  • Such a good video. Don't apologize or make excuses (i mean well, but can't find the right words) for getting rid of too little. We are all on our own journey!

  • Great job. Turned this one while I was cleaning the bathroom, made that process sooooo much more enjoyable!

    • Good!!! Deep cleaning the bathroom is never enjoyable lol, glad I could help a little :P

  • Well done ๐Ÿ˜Š

  • Iโ€™m in love w/ your dresser ๐Ÿ˜ so pretty

    • Thank you! haha I've had it for a solid 18 years

  • I thought, "Gee. That closet sure is full".... and then I saw the toss/donation pile!!! Awesome. Can I suggest that you donate the lot? In my experience, planning to sell items just means that all you end up doing is transferring the hoard to another part of the house where it continues to pile up. Is was that just me? ๐Ÿ˜…

    • mylittlesuitcase 1Soooo true haha

    • it's not just you. the same thing happens to me too :(

    • I had them send a bag but I haven't actually sent it back to them yet! Gotta get on that! :D

    • I sold a few things on facebook marketplace this past week! More bulky stuff but I was so surprised how fast it sold! Great recommendation :)

    • Are you in the US? If my items don't sell on Poshmark, I get a bag from ThredUp and send the rest to them to see if they'll buy the leftovers. Usually they'll buy at least a few items. They don't pay the greatest but it's still $$. They do (supposedly) donate what they don't buy.

  • It took me ages to get where i am today but i promise once you start to get things out of your home you will feel the benefit, its taken ages for you to accumulate all those things so well done for the great start to it all, i think you mentioned the mouse problem well i would get that area done as soon as then you will be so surprised how the rest will be easier for you, get some help from a trusted friend, all the very best much encouragement love Jacqueline

    • That's true, it has taken a very long time to collect most of this, that's a great way to look at it! Ugh I know, I'm very much avoiding that room at the moment lol.

  • Wow girl you did great :)

    • Your welcome! Sending good vibs your way for the rest of your Journey (:

    • Thank you so much!

  • Good job! Youโ€™re doing great! Do you self tan? Iโ€™m so jealous

    • Thank you! Ugh, no, I should though. I won a month of free tanning at a salon and kind of went overboard...

  • You did a great job! So proud! ๐Ÿ˜Š

  • The weathers bipolar is Kentucky too! ๐Ÿ˜‚

    • Donโ€™t be too hard on yourself! This is a new process for you! You got rid of SOO much!

    • Haha I bet so!!! Today is beautiful here, aside from some rain lol. & THANKS, I was worried that it wasn't "enough", because well... I felt like I could have done better. I'll get there though :)

  • Ahhh! So excited for this series! ๐Ÿ˜ So glad that you made it a long video! I love the longer declutter ones! ๐Ÿ˜Š

  • keep making videos !! never give up there great!!๐Ÿ’“
