Bangabandhu Satellite-1 Mission

Published on May 11, 2018
SpaceX is targeting launch of Bangabandhu Satellite-1 on Friday, May 11 from Launch Complex 39A (LC-39A) at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center, Florida. The two-hour launch window opens at 4:14 p.m. EDT or 20:14 UTC. A backup launch window opens on Saturday, May 12 at 4:15 p.m. EDT or 20:15 UTC.
Bangabandhu Satellite-1 will be deployed into a geostationary transfer orbit (GTO) approximately 33 minutes after launch.
The Bangabandhu Satellite-1 mission will be the first to utilize Falcon 9 Block 5, the final substantial upgrade to SpaceX’s Falcon 9 launch vehicle. Falcon 9 Block 5 is designed to be capable of 10 or more flights with very limited refurbishment as SpaceX continues to strive for rapid reusability and extremely high reliability.
Following stage separation, SpaceX will attempt to land Falcon 9’s first stage on the “Of Course I Still Love You” droneship, which will be stationed in the Atlantic Ocean.

  • IV ADDED COMMENT HERE BECAUSE ITS GOT LOTS OFF VIEWS.. I BELIVE IV COME UP WITH AN IDEA WITCH IS MAYBE A REALLY GOOD ONE. And no degree here. MY IDEA IS SIMPLE GRAPHINE PAINT... If you know about graphine and what it dose.. If you painted the rocket few times.. Boom.. light and toughest material with flex and maybe mix it with BLACK 2.0 to absorb the light away keeping the rocket Cooler... Just an Idea## Really want to save for a nikon p900/p1000 one day.. Breath taking videos on you tube with those cams..

  • The tin foil hat brigade will never have ever thought that the likes of SpaceX would come along. What happens now, do they call SpaceX a fraud? Lol! Trillions spent on frauds, from the beginning of the space race after the war, and all for a hoax, even the Soviets spending trillions of Rubals to fool the world. LOL! These missions are so wonderful, a real pleasure to watch, and how man can do marvellous things when he tries.

  • Hyped for driving a lambo in space 😂😂😂😂😂🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩

  • This question has been going in and out of my head since I saw the launch live, on the onboard camera the black interstage looks white so i thought it was the lighting but then I saw the black titanium grid fins which were really black so I wonder why that is

  • Why merlin engines and not raptor?

    • John theux thx

    • merlin is the old engine, it has not enough thrust for the BFR but it's enough for the falcon 9. The raptor will feed methane and can be refuel on mars with in situ ressources.

  • Welcome

  • Presenters arguing on who should present at the end

  • I like it! 😀 this video is really cool

  • Congratulation Bangladesh

  • Welcome Bangladesh to space

  • You people understand that 'this' is NOT a Bangladeshi satellite and launch, right? That Moslem country of people dedicated to eradicating INFIDELS from the Earth has NO MONEY of its own at all and got the GIFT of this launch from, well, from YOU without your consent, Infidel.

    • Are you a satire account or just extremely retarded? genuine question.

  • I wish Elon Musk would stop focusing on satisfying his ego and put his scope on engineering somewhere more useful already.

    • Carly Koura what like reducing the cost for launch significantly by being able to rapidly reuse rockets with minimal refurbishment.

  • Thank you from Bangladesh!!

  • Of course I still love you😊😊

  • Wtf auto captions lmao. Another job well done.

  • 24:07 15046 kmph and 164 km notice the position of the craft to earth. Then at 26:11 25,981 kmph and back down to 164 km, but the craft is actually higher in position to earth. Doesn't add up.

    • Thats just debris coming off of the spacecraft. you can see that they have very little relative motion compared to the spacecraft. Them moving downwards also means nothing, since they're already in orbit and have nearly the same relatative motion their orbit will only be slightly different in shape. because of this slightly different shape it will appear as if those objects are moving downwards about half the time. Here is what it could look like: www.desmos.com/calculator/sdgk0amt1o . Notice how it appears as if the green dot is moving downwards compared to the red dot when they start separating from each other.

    • Still correct, and if you look at 28:42 notice the small object? See how this object is traveling faster than the spacecraft, and 28:45 also another object. DID THE SPACECRAFT HIT ITS BRAKES CAUSING THE OBJECT TO FLY FORWARD, or maybe something as simple as the editor missed an object fall of the underwater space simulator, and these objects are falling downward in a swimming pool. Understand CGI are good, but still would be picked apart by tech nerds. A smaller scale models stil is needed

    • It does add up when you start to consider that a rocket doesn't go straight up. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gravity_turn en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Newton%27s_cannonball

  • Hi

  • Are people dining on a lunch buffet in the background?

  • nice

  • JOY BANGLA...GO AHEAD!

  • Sj

  • Be proud be a Bangladeshi. I love my country.

  • I love Bangladesh

  • Congratulations Bangladesh from india . Keep it up future holds many many things for both of us

  • What’s with the dislikes?

    • Blue origin fans and flatards

    • Probably flatards and other morons... Seems also that China has a grudge for not being selected as launch provider by Bangladesh.

  • Proud To Be A Bangladeshi 💜

  • 17:47

  • 44:50 "May Almighty Allah help us." Wait, was that Elon's college name?

  • Why does this video have a worse like-to-dislike ratio than the other other recent missions?

    • lol read the comments... its obvious that people has something against a mulism country launching their own sattelite since its technically not "theirs" as they obviously didn't pay for it.... people's low intellect on how money orr economy works makes me laugh...I went to Walmart in USA and saw tons of cloths with tags "made in china/bangladesh/india" its not amercican cloth right? cause amrica didn't obviously play for it.... beside the country's religious status has little to do with its development :v and I thought we weren't "open minded" enough

  • the dude is front of a green screen 27:03

  • And then it blows up lol

  • so great to see

  • I like the space to listen to the track TRADNII SPACE SEARCH GOOGLE IN HELP

  • 25:52 the universe is flat and around of the earth

  • 25:07 the universe is round

  • 24:04 #theearthisflat

  • Rapid Reusability inbound. The Second most beautiful space moments of 2018

  • 28:41,and 28:45 in the video. Amazing. Look a piece of space debris is moving faster than the craft at over 24,000 mph. The debris catches up to the craft, and pass the craft at over 24,000 mph. What a discovery, and a close call for the craft.

  • the theme is effing good. i clicked play, took shots of two of my favorites, came back tripping to the pc just to see this video is still playing at:us-tv.org/tv/video-rQEqKZ7CJlk.html?t=5m14s

  • Fantastic well done SpaceX

  • Take notes Kim Jong Un... this is how you get a rocket off the launch pad without it blowing up!

    • Yeah very true.

    • It is not about landing part -> is about propelant(RP-1) and oxydizer (LOX) SX use. It takes several minutes to tank the rocket. And also it has to be keept in criogenics temperatures range (so after You fill the tanks, You need to launch it in something around 1h). Any other nations with spy satellites would clearly see that You are preparing to lanuch nuke. Thats why IBCM's uses solid fuel -> it is very expensive to produce such rocket and also You can't turn off enginess during fly. But they are ready to launch in less than 5 minutes.

    • A ICBM doesn't need to land. Converting it would be very simple. Nuclear warhead on the Falcon 9. Launch it into orbit. Then use thrusters to adjust its trajectory. And then it falls nose first full thrust right into the target. Anything that can reach space can be used as an ICBM because by adjusting the orbit you can reach any continent.

    • In fact, rockets like Falcon 9 can't be used (at least - effectivly used) as IBCM's. Even with SX targetting 24h preparation to launch time, it is still to much

  • very nice

  • I don't get why he said satellite reached final orbit when altitude was just 309km. Satellite should be propelled second time at perigei

    • But that would be done by satellite own enginess. SX job is done here.

  • Never continuous video because you’d see how it goes horizontal

    • Connect The Dots There it is, someone already did it for me, you are enlightened now, you're welcome.

    • @Connect The Dots -> take a look here (first answer): www.quora.com/Do-our-rockets-go-up-straight-They-seem-to-curve-when-observed-Why?utm_medium=organic&utm_source=google_rich_qa&utm_campaign=google_rich_qa This is standard procedure if U want to put rocket into orbit around Earth (for ex. communication and military ones). It is also very effective method if You want to launch them into space (Moon, Mars, Jupiter, Venus and so): 1. put probe/spacecraft into Earth orbit. 2. lanuch it own engine to put it into desired trajectory. Direct shots would required a lots of fuel and constant work of enginess. Please take a note at SX Falcon 9 description: www.spacex.com/falcon9 -> they use different enginess for vaccum (2end stage) and atmospheric (Ist stage) operations. It is in fact very hard (and also expensive) to make enginees operating both in atmospheric and near-vacum conditions.

    • Davi Bavaro please enlighten me on how that is?? Why they always portray the rockets going vertical and never horizontally?? At what point would the rocket leave earths atmosphere with it going horizontally like an airplane?

    • Connect The Dots And if you knew something about rockets you would know that it needs to go horizontal to scape the atmosphere.

  • At least this is popular, compared with all of that stupid Fortnite stuff. I may finally have my faith in humanity restored

    • Gabriel francis Falcon Heavy. It restored my faith in humanity, but once the flat earthers saw it I immediately lost all faith. We’re going 2 steps forward, and 1 step back each time.

  • This is all crap they lie

  • The count down is always off with the timer

  • I Proud of in my country Bangladesh 💜

  • Thanks, SpaceX. It's time for Bangladeshi people .... Go ahead Bangabandhu Satellite-1

  • Im felling very proud to be a Bangladeshi😍😍😍froud of my country and prime minister
